History of Grama Panchayat
The Vallikode-Kottayam area, which includes Pramadam Grama Panchayat, was known as Malankottayam in the past. The social life here was centered on the dominance of landlords, agriculture, folk medicine, and folk arts. Local historical stories related to Marthanda Varma and Veluthampi Dalava survive here. With the passage of the Land Reforms Act, the common people got land and social changes took place. With the opening of educational institutions, the lifestyle of the villagers also improved.
